Jonathan Berry, Managing Partner at Boyden Gray PLLC, which filed amicus briefs at the Supreme Court in support of Students for Fair Admissions, issued the statement below regarding today’s ruling on affirmative action. The Washington-based firm was the counsel of record for amici curiae supporting Students for Fair Admissions.
“Racial preferences are un-American. This ruling is a watershed moment in the fight to ensure that no one is reduced to a racial statistic,” said Jonathan Berry, Managing Partner at Boyden Gray PLLC. “The Court’s decision will likely reverberate far beyond academia. In particular, employers should be fully on notice that diversity is not an appropriate justification for race-discriminatory affirmative action in the workplace.”
