Andrew Varcoe, a partner at Boyden Gray & Associates, was recently named as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Federalist Society’s Environmental Law & Property Rights Practice Group.
“It’s a great honor to assume this leadership role for the Executive Committee, whose immensely talented members include leading scholars and practitioners in environmental, energy, and natural resources law and in property law,” said Mr. Varcoe. “I thank the committee’s previous Chair, Jeff Clark, for his distinguished service and his contributions to the committee’s work.” Clark, who has left the committee, is now serving as Assistant Attorney General of the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Mr. Varcoe has extensive experience with litigation, environmental, energy, natural resources, and administrative law matters. He previously served as Deputy General Counsel for Agriculture and Environment at BIO, the trade association for the biotechnology industry, and as an appellate lawyer in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), after several years in litigation practice at a large law firm in Washington, D.C. He spends much of his time on issues, projects, and strategic advice to clients relating to a range of federal agencies; energy, environmental, and natural resources industry matters; international investment issues; and technology and innovation. He has spoken and written for an array of organizations and publications.
