BG&A has successfully petitioned EPA to include Urban Air Initiative and the Energy Future Coalition as members of EPA’s MOVES Review Work Group, a committee of technical experts that advises EPA on the MOVES model, the Agency’s vehicular emissions model.

In its petition to EPA, BG&A argued that these environmental organizations bring an important critical perspective that was not previously represented in the Work Group: both organizations contend that the MOVES model’s emissions factors are grossly inaccurate because of fundamental defects in the studies from which those emissions factors are derived. BG&A also argued that EPA was required to include these environmental organizations under the Federal Advisory Committee Act.

EPA has agreed to include these environmental organizations in the Work Group, and a representative of these environmental organizations attended today’s Work Group meeting in Ann Arbor.
